I’m starting a new series! In order to make an effort to make time to read I want to hold myself accountable and every 3-4 months post an update to my to-read list (or my TBR pile) and what it contains. (and also what I’ve read since the last update, which is the keeping myself accountable part.) Each cycle I’m going to list 5 main books or series that I want to read (or reread) and some more minor entries further down on the list.
Feel free to read along with me, or tell me your opinions of the books on my list! Also, don’t forget to tell me what you’re reading in the comments down below!
1. Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you have seen the pile beside my bed grow. Currently it is three books tall and those are the first three books on this list.
Tamora Pierce is one of my favorite authors and has been since I was a little kid. So when she came out with Tempests and Slaughter, the first in the Numair Chronicles I got so excited! Josie bought it for me back when it came out near my birthday, but because of graduation and moving I haven’t had a chance to sit down with it.
So, I just scraped my draft of Touched and am starting over, again, for the THIRD time. I need to get back into a writing place, I need to start holding myself accountable to ALL my writing projects (including this blog) and I need to stop allowing writer’s block to be a thing. I’m hoping the king of horror can help (pun intended). I’ve heard really cool things about this book and I hope it’s the kick in the rear that I need to get writing again.
3. Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
I got this book back at Christmas (when I got the first Shadow Falls book), then a friend borrowed it, and now it’s back in my possession. I need to read it so I can rejoice with the rest of the internet who all seem to think it’s amazing! (and then read it’s sequel The Fates Divide).
4. Lost in a Book by Jennifer Donnelly
This book is another in my quest to find Disney magic through books. This is another retelling of Beauty and the Beast (my FAVORITE Disney film), but in this one Belle falls INTO a book! Sounds like a Disney twist on something like Inkheart by Cornelia Funke so I’m pretty excited!
5. Caraval by Stephanie Garber (and it’s series)
So this cover…! It looks so cool, the synopsis sounds amazing! It’s been sitting on my Kindle for 3 months… It needs to be read!
Honorable Mention:
- All the P. C. Cast books I’ve missed! (Including the House of Night Other World series, the Tales of a New World series, the Goddess Summoning series, and the Partholon series! I have some catching up to do!)
- The rest of the Disney Twisted Tales (various authors)
- The rest of the Disney Villans series (multiple authors)
- The Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas
- Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J. R. Ward
… and more which you can find on my Goodreads! (Seriously it’s a LONG list.)
If you’ve read these books let me know (no spoilers please that’s mean and I’ll just delete your comments!) If you want to read along with me check out my Twitter and subscribe to get alerted about my book reviews!
