Loving the Monster |Bookending Autumn 2019

Hi Dreamers!
Bookend events were created by Sam @ FictionallySam and Clo @ cuppaclo cuppaclo.wordpress.com. (Two great bloggers and you should check them out!) They host these quarterly events to bring our book blogging community a little closer. They have hosts and prompts and even Twitter chats! (See full explanation post here.)
Today’s prompt is by Lauren @ Northern Plunder! It’s a photo tag for books in fall colors!
Prompt:
Which Halloween monster is your all-time favorite and why? Give us some recommendations or upcoming releases you’re excited about!
Post:
Lauren might get me to do something I’ve never done on this blog… talk about my own writing. This blog started as a writer website and I’ve been working on the same book that will one day be my debut for seven years (my life is busy).
Most of the characters I write with are vampires, shifters, fairies, fallen angels, etc. I love supernatural characters and the possibilities of plot you can have with supernatural characters that also still have human emotions. Give me the drama!
I love paranormal books a lot and when I started my own I followed the mentality that you should write the book you want to read. I wrote the book I wanted at sixteen. Lesbian vampires.
I like all monsters and supernatural creatures, but vampires are my all-time favorites (followed very closely by shifters). I think vampires are sexy and mysterious and the lore behind them is so cool. Vampires actually had a lot to do with tuberculosis outbreaks back when it was called consumption. (For more information I recommend the first episode of the Lore podcast).
In my story, Rayne is a vampire queen living in modern-day Boston. I don’t want to give too much away before I’m ready, but I’m really in love with this project and have been more motivated lately to work on it.

Black Dagger Brotherhood
I do have some recommendations for you though. I, of course, recommend the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. They’re my absolute favorite vampires right now and I love them! For more on my favorite boys click here.
Blue Bloods
Apart from my issue with how Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz was ended (not plotwise, industry and author-wise), I do really like the concept she has for her vampires. There’s a unique take on the lore and Greek mythology and I think it’s really inspiring for my own writing and entertaining for general readers.
The Vampire Diaries
I know none of these were recent releases… sorry, but this one has Josie’s approval, too. We still haven’t finished the series, so I guess it’s new for us. This is for the TV show, by the way, neither of us has read the books. This goes back to what I was saying about drama! This show has got it in spades!

What’s your favorite monster? Any vampire recommendations you want me to know about? Let me know in the comments!
