Bookending Spring: Blog’s Life

Hi Dreamers!

I’m doing another Bookending Spring post! This one was hosted by Clo over at Book Dragons.

Today is all about the past, present, and future of our blogs! Here we go:

The Beginning

My blog started back in 2012 as a way to keep myself writing. I’ve always been a writer and needed an outlet other than my short stories and poetry (I also needed a website to put my short stories and poetry on. Find them here.) I started on WordPress then dabbled a bit with WIX then moved back to wordpress late last year.

In college this blog became very much a portfolio in truth. My writing went up here, I started doing social media and PR work, and even started figuring out how to do my own graphics.

This blog has always been without a niche. I talk about whatever the hell I want here because it’s been my playground and will stay that way. This is my corner of the internet and I do with it what I want. Because I am, at my core, a reader and a writer this blog has naturally fit itself into bookblogging circles (hence my participation in Bookending events!) However, when I describe it to people I describe it as a lifestyle blog because I talk about everything!

Present

In January of this year I went self hosted on my blog! So that’s still a current huge undertaking because I’m still tidying from that move and playing with fun things like plugins.

Post wise, I’m working on trying to tie in posts that mean a lot to me that I’m not 100% sure I have an audience for. That’s okay though because I didn’t create this blog to have an audience (though I love all of you readers so much and you’re support keeps me writing!) I’ve been talking more about my mental health, chronic illness, my sexuality, and my religion. These topics are important to me as a writer so I’ve been writing fearlessly without the worry of consequence. I also believe these topics are important because sometimes we need to know we’re not alone.

The Future

Short term projects I’m knee deep in

  • Merch! I’m so excited about this one because merch is so fun!
  • I’ve also been working on cleaning up my Cosplay site (Redwitch Cosplay), APHI (Association for Patients with Hormonal Imbalance), and a new Witchy site so I can talk about my craft to people who are interested! They will all be linked on here at some point and I will keep you all updated!
  • A newsletter (more details to come)
  • The tidying also continues. And it’s slow going…

Long term projects:

  • Um, I’m writing a book! It’s about queer girls, and vampires, and werewolves, and it’s the book I needed at 16. I’m very excited about it!
  • I’m building a business for a small press! That’s all the details you’re getting on that for right now and it’s a LONG way off.

In conclusion

I’m really excited for the future of this blog and my empire! I’m very much a girl boss at heart and will never stop growing. I’m applying for my masters in December and would LOVE to be a professor or small business owner (or both!) some day. (Or Queen of the World would be nice, too! ?)

Point is, you can always expect more and more from this blog and my platform and I will always be as engaging and friendly with my followers because you guys give me endless motivation for my huge dreams! So, thank you for being here and supporting me in any and every way you can!

What are you excited for? What do you want to see more of? Let me know in the comments!
