I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my upcoming graduation in May and looking back on where I was 4 years ago and where I am now. My mom is planning my graduation party and helping with the guest list has made me narrow down who impacted me the most in the last 4 years.
One person that impacted me from the very beginning is my one of my best friends, Alex. This is an open letter to her:
We met before freshman year even started (I’m sure you remember the exact date Ms. Photographic Memory) during LEAD and I remember feeling instantly better about leaving home if you were going to be there.
We’ve had a lot of friend groups that came and went, but you’ve always stood by me when it counted. I think I would have given up a long time ago if it weren’t for you being a constant source of unwavering support for every crazy idea I have.
I’ve cherished each and every adventure, weather it’s a walk downtown, a ride to Walmart, or more serious things. Each cup of tea, RENT re-watch, or writerly discussion has touched my heart (I really was listening you know, just not always understanding your technical terms.)
Alex, your unwavering loyalty is your best quality and I see so much hope and success for everything you do. Through Buffy marathons and silly banter you have truly impacted my in more words then I can say.
You have a heart of gold the size of the world and I really hope you can make the changes you want to see happen and I will support you through them all. The world is lucky to have you and I am beyond blessed to have you in my life.
Thank you for being an unwavering force of comfort, love, and support. Here’s to more Perrier, cheesecake, and cheese platters after graduation!
To my Xander,
Love your Willow

Since I wrote this, Alex has started writing reviews for InReview and plans to start her own blog! We’ve gone on many adventures since this including our graduation party and to many places in Wisconsin once I moved. She remains one of my biggest supporters.
