5 Unusual Advent Calenders | Blogmas 2018 Day 7

Josie and I were talking the other day about unusual advent calendars because we both got the regular chocolate ones as kids, but lately there has been a trend of advent calendars that include socks, cheese, and even liquor to help you countdown to Christmas. Josie had never heard of the sock ones and thus I went on a giant Google deep dive into unusual advent calendars you can buy! Here are 5 of my favorites:

24 Days of Tea

If you’ve been following this blog you know I love tea (and pretty much any other hot and cozy beverage). So, if I was going to pick any calendar on this list (and I could only have one) it would be this one! I couldn’t find information on what type of teas were in here, so if you’re really particular about your tea this may not be the advent calendar for you. However, if you’re like me and enjoy most types of teas then you might like this!

The Body Shop

This might be my second favorite calendar on this list! It’s put out by The Body Shop and is full of all sorts of spa and beauty items. The thing I like about it the most is that it has a lot of lotion, so if you live in a really dry winter climate (like me) you can be super prepared for dry skin! Also, look at the adorable owl on it! (They also have one with a fox and a deer and they have other stuff in them like makeup and bath and body stuff.)

Aldi Cheese Calendar

This was the calendar that actually sparked my conversation with Josie. After I moved out here Josie introduced me to Aldi grocery stores because I never had one back home in Massachusetts and since then we go in there ever 1-2 weeks to check out the Aldi finds and grab staples. Every year they do cheese and wine advent calendars but they usually sell out in a few hours. The cheese one you can still find on eBay for a whopping $75.

Lego Advent Calendar

For the kids in your life (or the kids at heart) there is the Lego advent calendar! My mom’s roommate got one of these a few years ago and it’s honestly adorable! Throughout 24 days you get new pieces to add to an adorable Christmas display that can be used as a decoration or as a playset when you’re all done! I think this would be perfect for kids with allergies or other reasons why they couldn’t have the traditional chocolate advent calendars. Lego has also come out with more themed ones like the Lego Friends which is a bit more feminine or even character ones like Star Wars.

12 Days of Socks

Sock advent calendars have become a trendy thing in the last couple of year. Mostly launching as nerdy themes such as Disney sock calendars and Star Wars sock calendars. This one is generic but adorable. It features Christmas and holiday socks of all designs including candy canes, snowflakes, reindeer, and even an adorable polar bear. Long gone are the years of complaining about getting socks as a gift. Your feet can be festive for all twelve days of Christmas!

What do you think of these cool advent calendars? Did I miss one that you think is the best? Let me know in the comments!

These are really cool! I had never heard of a cheese one. But my friend’s kid had a sock one last year. The socks were hanging on a string though and she’d fill them with candy and little gifts 🙂

Same! I’m always losing socks, but I’m also always cold so I need them! Someone needs to find me a fuzzy sock calendar!

Love the idea of a tea calendar! Too bad they don’t give you any hints though as I can be a little picky with my teas.

Same! I mostly don’t like orange or peach teas which always seem to be in variety packs… I usually give them to my sister lol

I have one of the 12 days of Harry Potter socks, and I can’t wait to start opening them up.
